WhatsApp announced an update package designed for make group chats more manageableespecially crowded ones where an important message risks getting lost in the pile. The innovations concern three distinct fronts: surveys, a new system of collective mentions and the rapid creation of new groups starting from an existing one.

The @all tag can make a notification appear even in silenced chats, but those who don’t want to be disturbed can selectively deactivate this type of alert from the notification settings without silencing the entire group.
The third change concerns the creation of new groups. With the button “Create similar group”available in the group details screen, you can start a new chat in one step which automatically inherits the members of the starting one. The most obvious use case is the classic sub-chat to organize a surprise away from the eyes of the person concerned, but the function also lends itself well to those who want to isolate a technical discussion from the main flow of the group.
These three interventions come after the updates released in previous months, when WhatsApp introduced the history of group messages, tags for individual members and reminders for events.
