Born in 1988, Mattia Coffetti is among the suspects in the investigation that engulfed the Equalize company, the consultancy company managed by the former super policeman Carmine Gallo. Coffetti had already ended up in the newspapers in the summer of 2023, when he was interviewed because he had had a new chip implanted under his skin.
The data matches. The year of birth, relationships with the associations that deal with computer analyses and also the telephone number recorded in the interceptions. Also among those under investigation in the investigation into the consultancy firm Equalize is Mattia Coffetti. Born in 1988, from Brescia, Coffetti is a cyber security expert. In the investigation papers there is an entire chapter dedicated to him. From here we read that Coffetti participated in Equalize’s research even if “the relationship of dependence with the group is not clear”.
Coffetti, however, is already known in the news. For anything else. In the’summer of 2023 his story had been taken up by many newspapers, including Fanpage.it. We interviewed him because he had just had a new chip installed under his skin. Coffetti is, among other things, a biohacker: Uses science to modify his body. Over the years Coffetti has had it installed five chips. Most are NFC tags, the same technology used to pay with POS through our smartphone.

Devices the size of a grain of rice that can be easily implanted under the skin with a tiny intervention. Nothing comparable to the topics covered in the investigation which revealed the activities of Equalize, arrested Carmine Gallo and opened more than one doubt on the stability of our country’s IT structure.

Mattia Coffetti’s role in the hacker investigation
The profiles of are emerging from the investigation papers all hackers involved in the investigation. Let’s clarify this. Not all of them are under investigation and in any case we will have to wait for the trial to define their roles. Many of these hackers are already known in the Italian scene. For example Gabriele Edmondo Pegoraroa computer engineer who in the past had found the IT trace that in 2019 allowed the fugitive Cesare Battisti to be identified.
Among these experts who orbited Equalize we often talk about Mattia Coffetti. In the investigation documents he is referred to as a “real hacker”. Not only that, there is also talk of a company created by Coffetti himself in September 2023 which was supposed to work closely with Equalize. Reading the interceptions it seems that his role was especially technicallinked to the collaboration with Angelo Samuele Abbadessa, another protagonist of this investigation.
