On Instagram the highlighted stories change again: what's happening

In these hours your stories highlighted on Instagram may have disappeared from feed grid and be back to their original layoutin the sequence of round icons placed immediately below the biography section, where there is the username and profile photo.

When in November 2024 Instagram changed its layout, moving the featured stories to the feed gridmarking them only with the heart-shaped icon, not everyone appreciated the novelty. Today, almost a year later Meta is retracing his stepsor at least so it seems to the various users who in these hours by opening their Instagram profile have found the old layout.

Circular featured stories are back

While there hasn’t been an official announcement from Meta, many have noticed that their featured stories are no longer in the list. feed gridthe one where the published posts and reels also appear, but they are back again in the round icons under the biowhere they had always been until last year’s update.

With the new Instagram Timeline you can see all the Reels you’ve watched

Immediately below the round restore icons, many users may also read the following Meta notification: “Highlighted stories are back in place. We’ve taken your feedback and moved the featured stories back above the grid.”

What are featured stories for?

Highlighted stories are a feature much appreciated by Instagram users, because they allow you to fix and make visible always and to anyoneand, or at least to the followers in the case of a closed profile, the stories, which by definition instead they only last 24 hours. This function allows the user to create different thematic sections and collect past stories within them.

A function widely used by users for organize your own stories based on your interests, passions or phases of your life. But as more and more people have started to use Instagram for professional purposes, highlighted stories have also become a tool for presenting their Worka sort of business card.

That’s why when last year, in November 2024, Meta tested the new layout, many were taken abackand not always in a positive way. Today, a year later, Meta may have satisfied them.
