In August 2023 he made public a diagnosis of tumor: “I was diagnosed with a chondroblastic osteosarcomaa very rare form that affects only 0.2% of the population.”
It is a difficult diagnosis to make, as the website of the Airc Foundation for cancer research also confirms. It’s a malignant tumorwhich affects the bone. It presents with very generic symptoms. And in fact Alessandro thought it was just fatigue: “The knee pain and chronic tiredness that I had been feeling for over a year, as I suspected, had nothing to do with my training. I would have liked it to be ligaments or meniscus. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case.”
