ChatGPT is preparing to disappear: now OpenAI is working on a new superapp in view of the IPO

OpenAI is working on a new superapp. We are talking about a product that could make ChatGPT disappear from the radar, aiming at an audience linked to companies on the Anthropic model. The goal is to arrive at the IPO more solidly.

It will be a complex summer for them Big Tech. In the coming months the three private companies with the highest valuation in the market could be listed on the stock exchange. Translated: we’ll see capital movements in the billions of dollars and we will understand to what extent the promises we have heard in recent years have convinced investors. The first will be SpaceX: la IPO (Initial Public Offering) is scheduled for June 12th. According to estimates it should collect 86.2 billion dollars. After SpaceX the time should also come Anthropic and OpenAI. And it is precisely here that more movements are opening up.

Anthropic and OpenAI are in right now direct competition. They are two companies that owe their fortune to artificial intelligence, respectively Claude And ChatGPT. However, they focused on two different development models: Claude always turned to companieswhile OpenAI preferred to focus on a wider audience. In March, among other things, Claude beat ChatGPT among the most downloaded apps. But now the company led by Sam Altman it might think about changing its strategy, distorting the structure of its flagship product.

Financial Times rumors: OpenAI’s superapp

In the last few hours the Financial Times has anticipated that ahead of the IPO we might see it change ChatGPTthe chatbot that opened theera of artificial intelligence. It seems that OpenAI wants to completely change ChatGPT by turning it into a superapp. Specifically, an OpenAI manager told the Financial Times that “chat is dead”. The product the company could focus on the most is Codexa subscription product dedicated to coding. Some previews had already been made by Denise DresserChief Revenue Officer at OpenAI. In a post published last April 8 on the blog he clarified that the superapp that the company is incubating should bring together all the best of the products developed:

Does Microsoft want to make users dependent on AI? A document reveals the strategy on the Scout project

“We’re working on a unified AI-powered superapp: a single place where employees can collaborate with AI agents throughout the day to complete tasks and take actions using the tools they already use. This experience will bring together the best of ChatGPT, Codex, agent navigation, and broader capabilities to empower individual employees and small teams.”

OpenAI is currently being evaluated 852 billion dollars. It is just below Anthropic, currently valued 965 billion dollars. Valuations still very far from SpaceX, currently the private company with the highest valuation in the world: 1,750 billion dollars. In fifth place in this ranking remains Tether, the stablecoin launched by Giancarlo Devasini, with a valuation of 500 billion dollars. The only one among the top ten private companies at the moment that is not based either in the United States or in China: its Head Quarters are in El Salvador.
