The first traces of the new Instagram subscription are appearing in Italy. It’s called Instagram Plus and we’re talking about a service that costs 2.99 euros per month. It is very similar to Facebook Plus and WhatsApp Plus, two plans that we have analyzed in recent days.
The Plus feature arrived on Instagram with the latest updates. It was not an official announcement, although we cannot rule out that it will arrive in the next few days. Yet the function has been spotted on many devices, as demonstrated by several screenshots in Italian that are circulating these days. Instagram Plus is Instagram’s new subscription: it’s different from Meta Verifiedthe option (always paid) that allows you to have your profile verified with the blue tick. Plus is a lighter form of subscription aimed at an audience of casual users, announced at the end of May by Naomi Gleithead of product at Meta.
In summary: Instagram Plus is part of a new series of subscriptions launched by Meta which also concern WhatsApp and Facebook. Low costs, let’s talk about less than 3 euros per serviceand a package of features that enhance the app. According to official information these subscriptions are not mandatory: the basic version of the apps remains active. From what we have read, however, it seems quite clear that those who have the season ticket you will see the new updates first.
To find the Plus function of Instagram you need to go to yours personal profile. At this point go up Settingsat the top right and then scroll until you find Instagram Plus. Exactly like for WhatsApp Plus, in this case too the symbol of the new function is a diamond with a star in the center. Once you click on Instagram Plus you can find all the additional features that are included in the subscription. If you don’t find anything, it means that Meta has yet to release the feature on your app. You’re better off updating and waiting.

If you managed to find Instagram Plus, the last steps are quite simple. Activate your free month trial and start exploring all the features that are offered. After the first month, the subscription cost will be 2.99 euros per month. There are many new functions presented in the list and they mainly concern the management of Stories. It is a good signal to understand the target audience for which this function is intended. It’s not for creators, who they mostly work with Reel And Carousel.
