Motorola Edge 70 Max, software support is a coincidence: how many years of updates will the new smartphone have?

Written by Jason Miller

Motorola has just updated its smartphone range with the launch of the new Edge 70 Maxa model (also available immediately in Italy) that has the potential to carve out a space as a protagonist on the market, in the high end. There is, however, a problem. Motorola’s site does not clarify what the policy will be software support guaranteed for the smartphone and manages to contradict itself, providing different information.

How many years of updates will the Motorola Edge 70 Max have?

The Motorola website page dedicated to the new Edge 70 Max provides two different pieces of information regarding the type of software support guaranteed to the device. On the one hand, in fact, the presence of 3 major updates (therefore with updates up to Android 19) e 5 years of security updates starting from the launch date (therefore until June 2031).

In a note below, present in some local versions of the Motorola website (such as the Italian version) it is clarified that the updates will be 2 major updates and 3 years of support. THE EU certification data (EPREL), finally, confirm the presence of 7 years of updates.

For the moment, Motorola has not provided a clear and definitive answer on the matter. For those wishing to buy the new Edge 70 Max, therefore, there is this aspect linked to software support to consider. The difference between 2 major updates and 3 years of patches and 7 years of software support is truly remarkable.
