Samsung is reportedly working on a smartwatch without WearOS: more battery life but fewer smart functions?

Samsung prepares to expand its range of wearables. After the llaunch of the Galaxy Watch 9 and the new UltraIn fact, the Korean company is also planning the debut of the new one Galaxy Fit 4smartband designed to be the alternative to models such as the Xiaomi Smart Band 10.

Coming soon, however, there would also be a new project, characterized by the code name Samsung Galaxy Aero. The first references to this device are already present in the code of the Samsung Wearable app which also includes a clear indication on the nature of the project “galaxy_rtos_watch“.

More autonomy but fewer advanced features

The new Samsung Galaxy Aero, therefore, could be a smartwatch based on a RTOS operating system and not on Wear OS. It is not yet known whether Samsung will use the open-source FreeRTOS solution or develop a proprietary system. In any case, the intent seems to be clear.

The company aims to make one smartwatch different from the Galaxy Watch 9 and characterized by superior autonomyeven under the condition of sacrifice some advanced featuressuch as integration with artificial intelligence.

The model should be launched with a price significantly lower than the Galaxy Watch 9filling the gap between the Fit series (which occupies the sub-50 euro range) and the current range of smartwatches.

At the moment, there are no further indications regarding the project. The Samsung Galaxy Aero, however, could be part of the new to the Galaxy range arriving during the next weeks. In addition to the aforementioned Fit 4, in fact, Samsung is also planning the launch of the S26 FE smartphone and the new Tab S12.
