Xiaomi REDMI Note 17 Series: four smartphones, huge batteries and a new philosophy. Prices and specifications

Written by Jason Miller

Xiaomi renews one of the most important smartphone families in its catalog with REDMI Note 17 Seriesmade up of four models and characterized by a rather precise approach: increasing the life of the device over time, intervening above all on autonomy, resistance and software support. The new generation also introduces an absolute novelty for the family, REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5Gwhich is positioned at the top of the range. The launch also comes after REDMI Note smartphones surpassed 500 million sold worldwide.

The proposal includes REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G, REDMI Note 17 5G and REDMI Note 17. For Xiaomi, the common thread is represented by philosophy “Built for Years”supported by the new one REDMI Titan Quality. The declared objective is to make smartphones more reliable even after years of daily use, reaching up to six years of security updates across the entire range. Furthermore, on some models, the battery is designed to remain in good health for up to six years.

REDMI Titan Quality: resistance becomes the protagonist

The most interesting feature of the new series does not only concern theto battery capacity. REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G and REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G are the first devices indicated by Xiaomi as TÜV SÜD 5-star Titan Quality certified, a standard developed to evaluate resistance to falls, water and stress on the battery.

The tests take into consideration different scenarios, from mechanical impacts to vibrations, shocks, life cycle of ports and buttons, prolonged immersion and particularly demanding thermal conditions. REDMI Note 17 5G and REDMI Note 17 instead receive the TÜV SÜD 5-star Battery Performance certification, focused on the longevity of the battery.

On the autonomy front, the entire series adopts REDMI Titan Battery System, based on al technology silicon-carbon. The capacity reaches a particularly high value on the Pro Max model: 9,210 mAhthe largest capacity battery ever created by Xiaomi for a smartphone intended for the European market according to what the company declared.

REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G combines the battery with 100W HyperCharge and reverse charging via cable up to 27W. Xiaomi claims up to three days of battery life on a single charge and the ability to get a full day of use with just 20 minutes of charging, based on its internal tests.

REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G uses a 6.5-inch battery 8,340 mAh with 67 W HyperCharge charging, while REDMI Note 17 5G and REDMI Note 17 drop to 7,700 mAhmaintaining 45W Turbo charging. According to Xiaomi, all batteries are designed to retain at least 80% of the original capacity after 1,600 charging cycles, equivalent to over six years in the usage scenario simulated by the company.

Reinforced structure and water protection

The philosophy of durability also involves construction. REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G and REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G use REDMI Titan Structurewith a reinforced internal structure, a high-strength motherboard, a central MDA frame and a system designed to absorb shock.

The two Pro models also have certification IP66 and IP68 and they passed, according to Xiaomi, an immersion test lasting 72 hours at two meters deep. Wet Touch 2.0 technology should keep the touchscreen responsive even in the presence of water, oil, foam or sweat.

It intervenes to further strengthen protection Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The Pro models have also been subjected to SGS tests for drops from a maximum height of three meters onto granite surfaces, according to the conditions required by the certification.

A completely renewed design

The new generation also changes its appearance. Xiaomi has redesigned the photographic moduleadopting flat displays, more rounded corners and back covers characterized by a double finish. On the two Pro models the central frame has been redesigned to improve continuity between the back and the frame.

REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G also offers coloring Cloud Blushcharacterized by a photochromic cover capable of changing shades under ultraviolet light, going from white to a pink-orange shade. REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G is available in variants Black, Purple and Sky Blue.

Bright displays and performance

The multimedia equipment includes display from 6.83 inches on the two Pro and da models 6.99 inches on REDMI Note 17 5G and REDMI Note 17. The panels of the Pro models reach a declared peak brightness of 3,500 nits and use 1.5K resolution. Instant touch sampling comes to 3,200 Hz when Game Turbo mode is activated.

REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G uses Snapdragon 6 Gen 5a platform that Xiaomi indicates as suitable for demanding games, 4K content and multitasking. The two Pro models can reach up to 24 GB of RAM through Memory Extension, while REDMI Note 17 5G and REDMI Note 17 focus on operation more oriented towards daily activities.

Artificial intelligence finds space especially on the Pro models. REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G integrates Xiaomi HyperAIwhile Google Gemini and Circle with Google are available on the entire series, with features that may vary based on model, software and market.

Cameras

The photographic sector also looks at content creation. All models support dual-video recording, while REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G reaches 4K recording at 30 fps. Pro models also feature Professional Video, Live Moment and several AI-based editing tools, including AI Reflection Removal and AI Eraser Pro.
