The new CR450 is tested for a maximum speed of 450 km/h, a limit which on commercial routes should be lowered to 400 km/h. The Frecciarossa 1000 should arrive in Italy in 2025, capable of reaching commercial routes at 300 km/h.
The name of the train at the moment is CR450. According to the China State Railway Group this prototype is capable of reaching a speed of 450 km/halthough on commercial trips you will have to travel at a slightly adjusted maximum speed: 400 km/h. In terms of route it means Beijing – Shanghai in just over 150 minutes, two and a half hours. Much faster than most famous Shinkansenthe latest models of the Japanese train arrive in fact 320 km/h.
The news was spread by Chinese news agencies, and the train CR450 is not yet operational. Both reasons why we can take the news with some grain of salt. Even if the speeds may not be exactly as announced, from a technological point of view the leap in quality is interesting. At the moment it is not yet clear when the train actually enters service.
The fastest train currently in service in China is called CR400 and is able to arrive on commercial routes at a maximum of 350 km/h. The transition to a higher speed was made possible by less weight, around 10% less, more efficient management of the energy needed to move it and more accurate aerodynamics. The nose of the train is stretched like a bullet.

According to FS News, the information portal of the Italian State Railways, the new train should enter service in 2025. Freciarossa 1000. Compared to the Chinese racing cars it is a few steps behind. The maximum speed is 360 km/h, the certified one is 300 km/h and can be reached in 4 minutes. It has everything 16 engines which are distributed across 8 carriages. If all goes well it should arrive in 2025.
