Grok is the new artificial intelligence launched by Elon Musk on X (formerly Twitter). We tried it for a few days: it is connected to the internet, can provide updated answers and an excellent engine for generating images. However, several problems remain to be addressed.
Grok, the artificial intelligence launched by Elon Musk, has been available in Italy for a few days now. Or rather, to be precise, the artificial intelligence chatbot that you can find on X (it was Twitter). Grok was officially developed by xAIMusk’s artificial intelligence company. It is based on a Large Language Model (LLM) owner and the first version dates back to November 2023. What we can use now is Grok 2.
Access is easy. All you need is an X account. Grok is immediately found in the main settings: its symbol is a bara half X set in a square. On desktop it’s in the bar on the left of the screen, just below messages. On smartphones, however, it is among the options at the bottom, just after the magnifying glass.
What can you do with Grok
Grok is basically agenerative artificial intelligence. It is not only based on a data archive but connects to the internet to retrieve updated sources. It can therefore answer questions on different topics, analyze content (from texts to images) and even help users in programming by creating portions of code.

Well. But what is different from other AI-based chatbots? We asked him. Net of the fact that finding good free chatbots with internet connection is not easy, Grok ensures to add a touch of humor to his conversations, an external but not rigid approach and to respond even on controversial topics.
All with filters. He won’t tell us how to build a homemade bomb at home but he responds without too much effort when we ask for predictions or requests with a clear cut cut more linked to interpretation. In any case, when asked for an opinion he often underlines both the positive and negative sides, closing with a circular summary.
The problem of images generated with artificial intelligence
Interesting the image part. Grok it has no filters for famous people. We have already seen it: it is able to reproduce several Italian politicians with a good level of fidelity, so much so that it can easily create a photo of Giorgia Meloni playing Burraco with Elly Schlein. The photo you see at the top of this article was created by Grok himself.
Not only that. We also tried with tall photos, which could become the germ of fake news. In just a few seconds he created: Let’s give David who kisses Angelina Mangoa photo of Gennaro Sangiuliano who only drinks at the bar counter or Elly Schlein And John Elkann on a boat together. We asked him too a self-portrait: he made us choose between four faces, more or less young. All men, all white.
