Elon Musk has long been the richest man in the world. He leads huge companies like Tesla and SpaceX, bought Twitter and turned it into X. He has companies where he develops artificial intelligence and implants chips in human brains. From today he is also one of the people closest to Donald Trump, the new president of the United States. This is why there is talk of his possible assignment.
Even on election night Elon Musk organized his own marathon. It started in a virtual room of X, when it was still 11pm in Italy. Before the initial databefore the assigned voters, before a map that immediately began to turn red. In the room there was him, the crafty account Americathat of the owners of Tesla of Silicon Valley and then a long series of accounts of entrepreneurs, cryptocurrency fans or nostalgics of the Game Stop operation.
A techno universe which we will hear about for a long time and which we will know even better now that Donald Trump has become the new president of the United States of America. The results from Wisconsin and those from Alaska have erased any doubts. The path is now clear. And it is a road on which, somehow, Elon Musk will also be there.
Elon Musk’s role in the White House
Elon Musk wasn’t just a Trump campaign financier. In all, between donations and lotteries we are talking about approx 130 million dollars. It wasn’t just his testimonial. The relationship between Donald Trump and Elon Musk has become very close. So much so that Trump officially thanked him:

As we wrote in the days before the vote, with this victory Elon Musk will acquire even more power. The role Donald Trump has in mind for him has never been revealed. It’s difficult to think of an institutional position. Elon Musk already has operational positions in huge companies and judging by the outputs of recent years it is unlikely that there will also be room in his agenda for a position in Washington. A lighter position, even as informal as advisorit is more likely.
What changes for Elon Musk’s main companies after the elections
The first thing that has changed for Elon Musk is his position on the stock exchange. Tesla shares have started to rise again in the last few hours. They are currently being mistaken for 269, 80 euros. It’s the best figure since August though still far from the 2021 peakwhen they had arrived at 353, 53 euros for shares. According to the latest findings from Forbes, Elon Musk’s wealth is growing: +1.86%. He is firmly the richest man in the world with capital from 264.7 billion dollars.
Tesla’s stock market rise is the first sign. Elon Musk will be able to in the next four years advise Donald Trump’s choices in the economic field, suggesting where and how to put tariffs, asserting all his influence directly in the Oval Office. A path that is also favored by two promises already made by Donald Trump: deregulation and cutting taxes on the super rich.

This also applies to SpaceX, the company that deals with space exploration. With two points to add. The first is on contracts with NASA: one of the main sources of income for SpaceX remains the calls from the American space agency. Only in June did SpaceX and NASA sign a contract from 843 million dollars.
The second is Starlinkthe satellite internet network. In recent weeks, contacts between Starlink and some representatives of the institutions to use the Starlink network in critical contexts for Italy, such as embassies, emerged from an investigation by the prosecutor’s office. It’s not impossible to think that Starlink and its satellite internet could begin to sign contracts with the White House.
The laws that still need to be written
However, perhaps the most important point to keep an eye on is that of regulations. Elon Musk deals with very young businesses that he partly helped launch. Businesses which, however, are about to arrive in new fields where laws do not exist or are very restrictive.
Think about fully self-driving cars or domestic robots. Think about chips in your head, constellations from thousands of satellites or the future of social networks. They are all markets that arrived before there was one jurisprudenceto. These are all markets where Elon Musk has started projects. And they are all markets that will need new laws in the coming years. Who will Donald Trump ask for advice?
