Rockstar reveals prices and pre-order dates for GTA 6. The title will arrive on PS5 and Xbox Series
GTA 6 is starting to feel a little more real. Let’s talk about the most anticipated video game in the history of the medium, the next one is coming November 19th. We now know the launch price and when pre-orders will open, as well as other useful information. Let’s start with the cost, especially after the various rumors spread in recent months according to which GTA 6 would be the first video game to be sold for around 100 euros, given the very high production costs, even higher than those necessary for the construction of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. So much fear for nothing: in the end the standard edition of GTA 6 will cost 79.99 dollars, around 90 euroswhile the Ultimate Edition will cost 99.99 dollars, approximately 109.99 euros. This latest edition includes premium vehicles, weapons, clothing and “intertwined” content, as Rockstar Games defines it, in the stories of the two protagonists, Jason and Lucia. Returning to prices, these are figures in line with those of large videogame productions in the current market.
A law to stop shutting down video games, including the ones we paid for: Stop Killing Games
GTA 6 pre-orders will begin at midnight on June 25thbased on your local time zone. Rockstar specifies that those who pre-order the game will already be able to make the purchase pre-download starting November 12th. Among other things, those who purchase GTA 6 by November 20th will receive the “Vintage Vice City Pack” as a gift, i.e. a package of objects and gadgets that recall Tommy Vercetti’s neon Vice City, known in 2002 on PlayStation 2 and other platforms of the time.
So far everything is clear and linear. The aspect that emerges from the latest official information is the lack of disc in physical copies of GTA 6. Inside them there will instead be a download code, available as early as November 12th to allow the aforementioned pre-download. A choice that was not very popular with the gaming community, as can be read in the social comments on the pages of specialized sites, such as Multiplayer.it. “But are we really creating a plastic cover to put a code inside? Dystopian stuff”, says a user in reference to the lack of the disc and the environmental impact of such a choice. Yet it is hardly surprising, given that the physical medium of games has been supplanted by the digital one for years now.
All the huge hype around GTA 6
Beyond the price, the pre-orders and the controversy over the absence of the disc, there is one thing that makes sense GTA 6 is a unique case in the history of video games: no other production has ever generated such anticipation. After more than ten years from GTA 5, Rockstar Games is preparing to launch what is probably the most anticipated entertainment product of the decade, capable of catalyzing attention well beyond the boundaries of the videogame sector. It’s no coincidence that numerous publishers have avoided setting the release of their games in the weeks immediately surrounding November 19th. There is an awareness in the industry that GTA 6 will monopolize conversations, streaming, social networks and sales for months, making it extremely difficult to emerge in the same period. In other words, few want to run the risk of being overshadowed by the Rockstar giant. At launch, GTA 6 will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. No PC version has been announced at the moment, although the series’ history suggests it could come at a later date.
