The official launch was in December, in South Korea. Who knows about the one in Europe. This is why at the stand of Samsung al CES Las Vegas tech journalists from the European press immediately flocked to him. The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is Samsung’s new smartphone based on iPhone technology foldable screens. Unlike the models we are used to, however, here there are two folds. To be clear: it doesn’t open like a shell or a book but it opens as if it were one casket.
When closed, the Samsung TriFold has an external screen 6.5 inches. Once all the panels are opened the internal screen comes to measure 10 inches. With one more detail. If in the foldable smartphones that we have seen up to this moment the internal screen had an almost square formathere with this solution he manages to get to some dimensions more similar to a 16:9. The result? The videos actually look much better.
Once opened the TriFold becomes in effect a small tablet. The horizontal video frames widen and reach almost perfectly to the edges of the smartphone. It solves a problem. In many smartphones that fold like a book there is not a big difference between watching the video by holding the device horizontally and watching it from the internal screen once opened.

The features of the Samsung TriFold
From an engineering point of view the effort in the Trifold is all in the reduce the size of the hardware. In 2025 Samsung had already launched the Galaxy Z Fold7, a foldable that measures once closed 8.9 millimeters. Open instead arrives at 4.2 millimeters. Practically the maximum limit to accommodate a USB Type C port.
The TriFold measures when closed 12.9 millimeters. Once opened, depending on the point analyzed, it passes through 3.9 to 4.2 millimeters. In the photo below we compared it to a Fold7, it practically has an extra panel added on top. Sure, it’s not exactly thin but it doesn’t cause too many problems in the pocket.
For the rest the features are top of the range, including the three cameras with main sensor 200MB. The price is also top of the range: in South Korea it has reached 3,594,000 wonbeyond 2,100 euros. But for Western markets it could border on $3,000.
