The ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is expected to hit the market in June 2025. It is a high-end PC and above all it has a screen that is capable of rolling up. Just press a button or wave your hand to go from 14 inches to 16.7 inches.
CES in Las Vegas has one zwith folding screens. It is here, at the largest technology fair in the world, that the first smartphone with a folding screen appeared in 2019. His name was FlexPai and was produced by Royolea Chinese startup whose traces were then lost. In this year’s edition, however, the first PC with foldable screenbut this time not from a small company. Furthermore, Royole went bankrupt just last November.
The first PC with a folding screen ready to hit the market is called ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable. It is produced by Lenovo, which purchased the brand in 2005 ThinkPad from the American IBM. To be clear, ThinkPads are those PCs that historically were characterized by a red rubber dot in the center of the keyboard. The concept of a screen capable of rolling up had already been presented by Lenovo in the past. This time, however, it is no longer a prototype.
How the extending screen works
A note. Just like for the foldable smartphoneswe are talking about a product of high end. The ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable should hit the market in June 2025 at a cost projected between 2,800 and 3,500 dollars. In addition to the screen capable of extending, the PC therefore has the characteristics of an ultrabook: it can be configured with an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 1 TeraByte memory and 32 Gigabyte RAM.

The feature that has caused the most discussion, however, is certainly it screen. Once opened the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable is 14 inches large. When it is extended it reaches a size of 16.7 inches. To change the size of the screen there are two ways: a button or simply a hand gesture. Between zip closures and screen rolls, it is designed to withstand between 20,000 and 30,000 cycles.
But how does the screen extend? A part of the screen is as if it were hidden inside the PC. When you start the extension the screen begins to risethus creating a rectangular surface where however the short side is the one facing the keyboard. Such an elongated screen has applications mainly related to productivity: it allows you to manage multiple windows or longer pages of code.
