Motorola anticipates its next move after the debut of the iPhone Duo: here is the mysterious foldable

Written by Jason Miller

Apple recently presented iPhone Duoits new foldable device, and its introduction on the market seems to have already produced some reactions from the main manufacturers in the sector. Among these is that of Motorolawho published a short video on his social channels giving a glimpse of what could be his next foldable device. The product shown in the video appears to have a wider shape than the current ones Razr Fold.

The video released by Motorola quickly takes a look back at a few generations of Razr phones. We start from the iconic pink Motorola Razr clamshell, and then move on several newer models. The last device clearly recognizable in the images is a Motorola Razr Fold, launched by the company earlier this year. Immediately afterwards, however, the dark shape of another foldable device appears.

The new device is not explicitly identified by Motorola, but its shape resembles that of the iPhone Duo. Compared to traditional book-folding smartphones, the product shown appears shorter and wider. Motorola accompanies the publication with a particularly significant phrase, defining what is shown as its “next move“, or his “next move“.

What can be deduced from the teaser published by Motorola which anticipates its new leaflet?

By observing the shape it is also possible to identify some details that could provide further information on the nature of the device. On the back there appears to be a bar dedicated to cameras spanning the entire width of the back panel. In the view of the inside of the smartphone you can also notice a button at the top left of the display. However, these are elements that are only visible in a very dark representation.

For the moment it is therefore not possible to establish with certainty that this is a new variant of the Razr Fold. The hypothesis is that Motorola may be working on one wider version of its foldablebut the company has not provided official information on the identity of the device nor its possible launch date. The details may also be different than what the silhouette suggests.

Motorola’s move comes at a time when shorter and wider foldable smartphones are attracting more attention. The iPhone Duo brought the format back into the spotlightafter previous proposals from other manufacturers, while Motorola seems to want to take advantage of the moment to anticipate its possible evolution of the Razr line. For now, however, it remains only a teaser.
