The Ministry of Business and Made in Italy (MIMIT) has updated its official archive of telephone numbering resources, introducing new assignments concerning the mobile telephony sector. The update, published on 8 July 2026 and referring to the situation as of 30 June 2026, includes new prefixes for PosteMobile and Vodafone.
With regard to PosteMobilethe virtual operator managed by PostePay, a company of the Poste Italiane Group, was awarded the new numbering 3718. The company, which for new activations uses the TIM mobile network with 2G, 4G, 4G+ and 5G services via a dedicated option, thus expands the availability of numbers for future customers.
With this assignment, PosteMobile adds a further decade to the 371 series, placing the new prefix alongside those already available 3711, 3713, 3714, 3715, 3716 and 3717. Whoever activates a new line will therefore also be able to receive a number belonging to the new series 3718.
Not only PosteMobile, Vodafone also gets a new prefix
The MIMIT update is of interest also Vodafone Italya company incorporated into Fastweb from 1 January 2026. After the corporate transaction, Vodafone continues to operate in the Italian market as a brand licensed to Fastweb until 2029 and is part of the brand Fastweb + Vodafoneborn following the completed acquisition by Swisscom.
Vodafone was awarded the new decade 3786which expands the resources available within the area code 378. In the past the operator had already received the 3784 seriesawarded in 2022 and indicated as intended for virtual operators who directly use the Vodafone network, e 3785awarded in December 2025.
Although the Ministry did not specify the destination of the new decade 3786the possibility that it could also be used for virtual operators who use the mobile infrastructure currently managed by Fastweb + Vodafone is not excluded.
