THE new Galaxy Z are a success, with various reports confirming the excellent results achieved during the pre-order phase. For Samsung, it’s time to look to the future. With the series Galaxy Z9, which will arrive in 2027, the Korean company may be able to eliminate the crease from the display, making it almost invisible. A new report anticipates this news.
Everything revolves around one new technology which Samsung Display is developing in collaboration with some suppliers and which in the future could become a real standard for the industry and, in particular, for the entire foldable segment.
A leap in quality is coming
Samsung Display is working on the technology Center-Etched Thin Glass (CTG). It is a system that allows you to create a covering layer for the foldable OLED panel that selectively etches the foldable central section of the ultra-thin glass, making it thinner than the rest of the panel. The technology is also called Hybrid UTG, since a single layer of glass would have two different thicknesses.
This solution should reduce the thickness and should guarantee greater ease of bending, decreasing the stress which over time creates a visible depression. In essence, the crease of the display is destined to become less and less evidentthanks to the implementation of new technology.
To ensure a greater resistanceFurthermore, Samsung Display could make thicker glass in the non-folding parts of the panel. To avoid the perception of an unevenness of the display to the touch, the company is reportedly developing a filling material to be inserted inside the engraved section to level the entire surface. This new solution would complement the new structure Flex Titaniumlaunched with the Galaxy Z8.
