It was already in the air, at least since May. But now it’s official: Google’s I’m Feeling Lucky button has finished its service. We don’t know how many of you used it but in the Google search bar until today they were there two options. The classic Search with Googlewhich led to the well-known list of links, and then I feel lucky. This button instead led to a single page, considered by Google to be the best in searches.
It wasn’t exactly the most used function of the search enginegiven that Google has decided to replace this button with AI Mode. In this function theartificial intelligence of Google integrates with searches, a bit as we have already seen with the previews of AI Overview.
How AI Mode works
In short. AI Mode was designed for provide answers to more complex questions. The answers provided by AI Mode are not only displayed in text form. On the contrary. They can also be presented in more complex shapeslike a grid in which different information is compared. AI Mode was officially launched during the last Google I/Othe conference dedicated to developers where new features of the search engine are announced. It had not yet been introduced in Italy.

How new research begins
In addition to answering complex questions, AI Mode is able to answer starting from different ideas. It answers written questions, the ones we are used to asking Google. But it also responds to voice and especially video input. Technically Google presents it as a multimodal artificial intelligence. We had already seen something similar with the smartphones they supported Gemini Live. We wait to try it for a few days but the question in the air is quite easy to understand: with such a powerful tool, who will still do normal searches?
