WhatsApp Plus has been launched globally. It should arrive in Italy in the next few months, but there are already some sightings: it was discovered in one of the Beta versions dedicated to the Android operating system.
WhatsApp Plus is WhatsApp’s subscription plan. It was officially presented by Naomi GleitHead of Product at Meta, complete with a video published on Instagram. The plan has raised, understandably, interest. WhatsApp is the most used app in the world for exchanging messages. According to data aggregated by Statista platform in March of 2025 would have surpassed the 3 billion users. The subscription plans also cover Facebook and Instagram but it is understandable that the attention paid to WhatsApp is higher. Meta’s idea is to aggregate all the management of these plans in a single space: Meta One. Sort of Meta platform dedicated exclusively to subscriptions.
From the information that has emerged so far it seems that in addition to Plus versions of WhatsAppFacebook and Instagram, the Meta One platform will also manage subscription plans for Meta AIMeta’s artificial intelligence. Not only that. There are also two programs aimed at creators: Meta One Essential And Meta One Advanced. We are talking about programs dedicated to those who want to create content on social media that have functions within them increase the visibility of your profiles. The price and hypotheses on the arrival of WhatsApp Plus
The cost of WhatsApp Plus will be $2.99 per month. It is the lowest cost among the announced subscriptions, given that Facebook Plus and Instagram Plus will then be available $3.99. The other subscriptions are much higher. For Meta One Advanced we are talking about, for example $49.99 per month. All these subscriptions, we specify, move on different lines from Meta Verifiedthe subscription from 13.99 euros which allows you to have a blue check next to the profile name. For WhatsApp Plus we are not talking about options capable of completely changing the user experience. However, if you use the app a lot, these are all little things that can come in handy. There is the possibility for example of set up to 20 chats between our conversations. At the moment, however, you can only have 3. The subscription in Italy should cost 2.49 euros.
WhatsApp is testing the “Log out” function: it allows you to log out without losing your chats
The launch has technically been defined “global”at least for Plus subscriptions. This means that they will be available worldwide. However, something is already moving. The magazine specializing in technology AllAndroid has published the first screens of the new function spotted in Italy. The option “Subscriptions” it also appeared in Italy in WhatsApp Beta for Android with code v2.26.20.8. It is immediately found in first position on the list options linked to the user’s profile.
Once you pass on “Subscriptions” at this point a new page appears where we read WhatsApp Plus and then “improve your messaging experience”. From here we arrive at another page where we read that there will be the possibility to try WhatsApp Plus free for one month. In addition to the possibility of setting “Additional Chats”, among the functions linked to the subscription we also find “Get exclusive ringtones” or “Choose a personalized app icon”. For now this is a fact the only appearance of WhatsApp Plus in Italy. However, it is not difficult to imagine that after the announcement it won’t take long to see this app here too. The subscription option will then be inserted directly into the official app: just keep WhatsApp updated to have it available as soon as it is available.
