It’s not clear whether just showing interest in these sites is enough to get fined, which is a difficult scenario. It is likely that the information left, perhaps emails not linked to the customer’s real name, will then be used to track users on the real illegal streaming sites. In any case there is no data on the results of this operation.
The case of Dazn and the Catania prosecutor’s office
In this last-minute fight, perhaps the most interesting news concerns what happened between Dazn and the Catania prosecutor’s office. After an investigation that uncovered the “largest criminal organization dedicated to audiovisual piracy”, it seems that the platform dedicated to sports streaming intends to ask the magistrates who conducted the investigations for the list of users.
It is not clear how Dazn then intends to move against them. From what has emerged from the platform so far the intention should be to move towards a complaintin such a way as to force them to pay the fine according to the measures defined in September by AgCom. As AgCom commissioner Massimiliano Capitanio confirmed to Fanpage.it, in fact, it is enough to have seen even just one match to incur a fine: “The fine is triggered for anyone who consciously or unconsciously watches a match broadcast by an illegal platform”. The fines go from 150 to 5,000 euros.
