In Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 there is a mission called “Wanted”. It is set in 1991. Bill Clinton is holding a gala dinner on Capitol Hill, Washington DC. The CIA team led by Troy Marshall is not there for the future president of the United States, then governor of Arkansas, but for Senator McKenna. A nice change of pace compared to the classic frenetic shootouts a la Call of Duty. However, adrenaline is not lacking, given that you have to move with speed and reflexes to go unnoticed, although the artificial intelligence of the enemies, from this point of view, is a little embalmed. But it is when you have to press the trigger that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 releases all its character, with a quantity of very different weapons and a precise rendering of the shots, which gives quality to the sensations while shooting with the pad. Added to this is a variety of gadgets, such as the remote-controlled car, which further vary the gameplay, enlivening a pleasant and exaggerated campaign at the right point with different rhythms. In that sense, there is a quantity of Americanized not indifferent, in true Call of Duty style, between escapes on Stars and Stripes cross motorbikes, helicopter explosions and car races in the desert (there is also the Gulf War against Saddam Hussein’s Iraq in the middle).

A story connected to the previous Black Ops: Cold War, where however the enemies are no longer the Russians of the Cold War (even if they are always present as ghosts, especially for the agents Adler and Woods) but mercenaries of various nationalities. Now, it is true that the campaign mode is a frill within Call of Duty, but the fact that it is always present and taken care of down to the smallest details, both on a directorial and technical level, demonstrates how important it is for Activision to spread iconic protagonists and stories political fiction linked to the reality of the facts that fuel the USA-themed videogame imagination. This is supported by one top notch graphic quality. Too bad only for some errors during the dialogues in-game.

The multiplayer challenges however, they remain the cornerstones of Black Ops 6, and more generally of the series. It is no coincidence that to start the game you necessarily need an internet connection. For the rest, there are all the classic modes of the series, including Hardpoint, Control, Zombie (which can also be played solo) and deathmatch, including the new Kill Order, in which only one designated user must be eliminated. The more or less large maps reward a gameplay based on movement and speed, although there is no shortage of points for hiding and carrying out kills, defined as “camper” killings, that is, by he or she who finds cover to attack with the sniper rifle in a sudden – and annoying for those who receive the blow – without running the risk of being discovered.

To conclude, therefore, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a worthy exponent of the seriesespecially after the bad taste left in the mouth by Modern Warfare 3, with a varied and always adrenaline-filled multiplayer segment, and a campaign mode that is out of line but functional according to the canons that characterize one of the most popular franchises in the gaming scene.
