Microsoft continues to invest in the development of tools dedicated toWindows 11 accessibilitywith new features that aim to make the operating system easier to use for more and more people. The latest version Insiders introduces particularly interesting improvements for Voice Accessthe function that allows you to control your PC through voice commands.
The main innovation is represented by Voice Isolationa technology designed to distinguish the user’s voice from noises in the surrounding environment. In the past, using Voice Access in places with many people or background noise could be difficult. With this update, however, the system manages to focus more on the lead vocalmaking computer control more reliable even in shared offices, open environments or homes with other people present.
Data processing takes place directly on the devicewithout sending vocal information externally. To activate Voice Isolation it is necessary to complete a short configuration procedure, during which the user reads a small text that allows the function to better recognize their voice.
Windows 11 and the main accessibility features
Microsoft has also added new possibilities for device users Braille. The function Narrator Windows 11 now supports Braille displays compatible with the HID (Human Interface Device) standard, offering a more immediate connection without requiring additional configurations. Compatible devices can be connected via USB or paired via Bluetooth directly from the system settings.
HID support also allows Braille displays to work during the initial setup of Windows, allowing users who are blind or severely visually impaired to complete the first startup of the computer themselves. Compatible devices include models such as Orbit Reader 20, Orbit Slate 340, Freedom Scientific Focus 40 and APH Mantis Q40.
The update represents a further step in the path undertaken by Microsoft to improve the inclusiveness of its ecosystem. According to the company, many functions created to meet the needs of users with disabilities can also offer benefits to anyone who uses a computer on a daily basis.
